About you

  • To be eligible for our NatWest Markets internship in Milan, you’ll need to be on track to achieve a degree classification of at least 100 in either a Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a similar discipline at a business or engineering school. You’ll be close to finishing a Bachelor’s degree, in a gap year or studying towards a Master’s degree.

  • You’ll also need a study agreement with an Italian university or business school. 

  • You’ll need to be fully fluent in both Italian and English or Spanish and English

  • You’ll have a strong interest in developing a client-facing career in corporate finance and to develop your financial analysis and modelling skills. 

  • You'll have good communication skills 


About the programme 

This is a 3-6 month internship starting from beginning 2023 within our Financial Institutions Advisory team or with our Rates, Credit, Money Market and FX Sales teams. 

As part of Financial Institutions Advisory team you’ll be supporting the origination and provision of fee-based advisory services to our customers in relation to disposal, acquisition or risk management of businesses or portfolios of financial assets. You’ll cover a range of activities relating to client relationship management, including origination and execution of corporate finance transactions.

Throughout your internship in Rates, Credit and FX Sales teams in Milan you'll service real money investors and banks across Italy and Iberia for both primary and secondary market transactions. 

Throughout your internship, you’ll also cover a range of activities relating to client relationship management, which could include: 

  • Conducting financial analysis on fixed income securities and market trends 

  • Organising roadshows and client meetings 

  • Structuring and executing transaction

  • Financial modelling for specific transactions

  • Drafting client presentations

  • Assisting Sales teams in on-boarding, fund set up and settlement topics 

  • Analysing historical customer trading activity to support Sales colleagues

  • Preparing trade ideas, with in-depth analysis for publication.
