What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for managing our Unix based file transfer environment which bases on common software components. You will be responsible for the whole process end-to-end after a file transfer request has been raised by the business or a project. Collecting all requirements, dealing with all involved partners in CH and as well as in UK is needed to implement a file transfer with success. Testing in non-PROD environments with all stakeholders and following the process to move it into PROD environment is part of the job, as well as documenting.
You will also answer to questions raised by people, work on tickets (Incidents, Service Requests) and will provide on call-service on weekends and as well as during the week if required.
The function is positioned within a growing team of Unix Engineers / Application Managers and collaborates closely with Release Management, 3rd-party developers, Engineering, IT Operations, Avaloq Release Management and IT Test Management.
Additionally, you’ll be responsible for:
Building, testing and implementing new File Transfers
Analysis and resolving of specific technical issues (performance, stabilioty, missing files, etc.)
Project support (consulting)
Documentation of system landscape and processes
Improving and automating processes
Interface to 3rd Party Provider/Suppliers
The skills you'll need
To succeed in this role, you'll bring an advanced experience in scripting in Bash, Pearl and Python as well as deep understanding of Unix. In this role, you’ll also need to take over ownership, show initiative and persistency. We additionally expect you to have a university degree in computer science/engineering (or equivalent).
You’ll also demonstrate:
Experience with Unix environments (RedHat 7/8)
Experience with databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server)
Experience with Network and Firewall principles
Solution and service orientation
Good social interaction in contact with business and IT Developers
Analytical & structured way of thinking and working
Fluent English spoken and written
German would be an asset
