Our goal in Human Resources

We’re here to make the bank a great place to work – a place where everyone is treated fairly and able to fulfil their potential. This comes down to understanding our people, and how we work best together.

We shape and deliver strategies for the business in areas like recruitment, learning, reward, and inclusion to make sure we have the people, skills and perspectives we need to deliver for our customers, and to nurture a fair and inclusive bank for our colleagues.

What’s great about the programme?

Every area of our business is different – they each need their own skillsets, their own challenges, their own nuances. What better way to find out what working in a business area is like, than from the people who are already working there?

Where can our programme take you?

For the full eight weeks, we’ll pair you with a ‘buddy’ and a line manager, who’ll support you in gaining valuable experience to help guide your career choices.

During the programme, you’ll also work with other interns on a business project. This’ll help you develop key skills covering team working, planning, creative thinking, presenting, business plan writing and problem solving – gaining crucial experience in presenting to stakeholders.

You’ll also get time to support good causes in the communities we serve through a Corporate Social Responsibility day.

At the end of the placement, we’ll assess you on what you’ve learned. Complete this successfully and you could be offered a place on our 2025 Human Resources Graduate programme, where you can carry the skills you’ve learnt forward and take the next step in your career.

What can you gain from the programme?

  • Valuable experience of what it’s like to work for a purpose led organisation that puts customers at the heart of decision making
  • The chance to work as part of a team to deliver a business improvement project using your creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of how we create and embed culture and wellbeing
