What’s great about the programme?

Every area of our business is different – they each need their own skillsets, their own challenges, their own nuances. What better way to find out what working in a business area is like, than from the people who are already working there?

Is the programme for you?

Do you enjoy problem solving in a role that’s constantly evolving? What about the sound of working in a dynamic environment that requires you to constantly learn? Our NatWest Markets Internship could be for you. There’re two paths you can take in NatWest Markets.

Our Front Office Internship will sit you across our entire front office, a unique position to be in. You’ll get the chance to generate innovative trade ideas for our clients, learn how we manage and measure risk, and develop the skills required as a trader to make markets and provide liquidity for our clients.

And on our Quantitative Analyst Internship, you’ll be designing and implementing systems in our python-based infrastructure that trade billions of dollars a day, and creating models used for derivative pricing and calculating risk in our C++ analytics library.

Our UK based Front Office and Quantitative Analyst Internships will last for ten weeks, whilst our Paris and Frankfurt Internships last up to six months.

The aim of these Internships is to give you a taste of what it’s like to work here, along with valuable skills and experiences that you’ll bring into your future career.

Where can our programme take you?

You could be based in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan or Amsterdam, but for the duration of your internship we’ll pair you with a ‘buddy’ and a line manager, who’ll support you in gaining valuable experience to help guide your career choices.

The programme starts with an induction, where you’ll learn about the bank, meet your fellow interns, and get the chance to talk with colleagues from around our business.

You’ll then begin a placement where you’ll get involved with our live day to day work, and take part in a business project. This will give you the opportunity to complete research on a topic and come up with recommendations for improvement or change to support our ambitions.

During the programme, you’ll also work on a social impact project. This’ll help you to develop keys skills covering team working, planning, creative thinking, business plan writing and problem solving – all while contributing to a valuable cause.

At the end of the placement, we’ll assess you on what you’ve learned. Complete this successfully and you could be offered a place on our 2025 NatWest Markets Graduate programme, where you can carry the skills you’ve learnt forward and take the next step in your career.

What can you gain from the programme?

  • An inclusive and rewarding environment where everyone is championed and developed to build the future of the bank
  • A chance to work with a supportive, helpful team who will help you develop your skills
  • Access to a comprehensive training program where you will learn about our products and service
