Whatever life throws at you

We all need a helping hand sometimes.

Between our top benefits and our forward-thinking policies, you’re covered when you need it. Hear from some of our colleagues about what that support has meant to them.

Saurabh Bajpai, Scrum Master: This is a bit of a journey for me.

Hina Arora, HR Case Consultant: It’s a big thing when you get support like this from your management.

Karan Anand, Lead Analyst: It made a lot of difference in my personal life.

Text: Whoever you are, we’re on your side.

Karan: My wife, Aanchal, and I came to know in October that we were expecting.

Hina: Stepping into a new role along with motherhood was, you know, really overwhelming for me.

Saurabh: If you can’t be yourself at work, that’s not healthy. I’ve never been out at my work before.

Saurabh: NatWest Group took me by surprise. I see a lot of people who are out supported by the organisation. I don’t have to hide who I am.

Hina: What was imperative for me was to get proper support in terms of work capacity, work-life balance which I did get, not only from the top management, but from my peers and from everybody around in office.

Karan: If it would have been two weeks, that time would have been like a blink of an eye. I was able to get twelve weeks off. I wouldn’t have swapped it for anything else in this world.

Hina: When I came back, there was a proper support plan that was prepared by my team managers. I could join back slowly.

Karan: My team helped me to adjust to get into the skin of the role again. Hybrid model really helped me.

Saurabh: We have a network called Rainbow Network where I can be part of the beautiful initiatives which create a more and more inclusive workplace for each and every one.

Hina: Another job opened at a level above mine. I honestly wouldn’t have thought of applying over there unless my manager really encouraged me. And guess what happened. I got the role.

Saurabh: I have recently been named as Top 100 Outstanding Future Role Model by INvolve. I don’t have to think of my sexual orientation, I get a chance to put my energy wholly into my ambition.

Karan: I am very grateful for this organisation. The support here goes really deep.

Hina: It has been a great experience.

Karan: And I’m very proud to be part of the NatWest Group India.

Hina Arora, HR Case Consultant: Hi, my name is Hina Arora, I’m a Senior Consultant in the Policy and Advice team.

Hina: When I first found out that I was pregnant with my first child, it was just a couple of months after I’d got into a new role. I was already feeling really anxious about it, and stepping into a new role along with motherhood was really overwhelming for me.

Hina: As we got closer to my due date, what was imperative for me was to get proper support from the business. The support was not only from the top management, but from my peers and from everybody around in office. I also was given an option to work from home.

Hina: Something that was really important for me was to understand the kind of support that I was getting through the policy. Luckily, I got help from my team managers and teammates to understand how the processing needs to be done.

Hina: Shortly before I was supposed to join back, my team got in touch with me to let me know and to comfort me that I could join back slowly. There was a proper phase back plan. I could do my role completely flexibly and at my own convenience, working from home for the initial few months, which really helped me.

Hina: What was really important for me was that when I joined back, there was another job that was opened at a level above mine. I honestly wouldn’t have thought of applying over there unless my manager really encouraged me. And guess what happened then? I got the role.

Hina: I wouldn’t have expected when I came back from my maternity leave that some opportunity like this will come to me and I will be encouraged to an extent to apply and get through.

Hina: It makes a lot of difference depending upon where you work. And it’s a big thing when you get support like this from your management.

Giving partners their share

Whoever your family is and however your new arrivals get here, our market leading partner leave policy means you can be a full part of those precious first few months.

It doesn’t matter who your partner is, or whether you’re expecting a natural or surrogate birth, or you’re adopting. You can take up to three months with full pay. Which means more time to care, more time to bond, and more time to make memories.

Karan Anand, Lead Analyst: Hi. I’m Karan Anand, I’m working as Lead Analyst in Corporate Banking and Structured Finance team of NatWest Group India.

Text: Our partner leave gives you up to 12 weeks with your family

Karan: My wife Aanchal and I came to know in October 2022 that we were expecting. I was able to get 12 weeks off, and we were able to plan really well accordingly.

Karan: It was a very good surprise for my wife and me that I was able to spend more time with her and my newborn baby. It was a very wonderful experience. If it would have been two weeks, then that time would have been gone, just like a blink of an eye. It really helped me to take things very slowly.

Karan: I was able to notice each and every thing what he was doing. It was him who taught us how to be a good parent, because he was doing all the stuff which was really new to us. We were 24/7 around him, so it helped him also to get used to us.

Karan: There are a lot of postpartum things that comes into picture. So that 12 weeks not only helped me to give more time to my baby, but it also helped me to give more time to my relationship to my wife. There were times when she needs more attention than a baby. So that really helped me to see the relationship from this different perspective. I can only say that that 12 weeks were really wonderful for me.

Bring your authentic self to work

Hear from one colleague why this is a great place to be out.

Out and proud

We’ve long been a supporter of the LGBT+ community, and a global leader in pride. We continue that today, with hiring programmes such as TRANSpire extending opportunities.

Expect an open and accepting environment, backed by inclusive policies. And our global Rainbow network helps you connect with a community across three continents.

Saurabh Bajpai, Scrum Master: I’m Saurabh Bajpai. I’m a Scrum Master working with NatWest Group since 2022.

Saurabh: This is a great place to be an out member of the LGBT community. The support here goes really deep. For example, in the NatWest Group, we have a network called Rainbow Network, which connects you with the other folks within the LGBT community. They talk about different policies, different initiatives, which have been carried out for all the LGBT folks, so that it creates a more and more inclusive workplace for each and every one.

Saurabh: I’ve never been out at my work before. Maybe I was not confident or maybe to start, things were not that inclusive. After joining NatWest Group, I see a lot of people who are out and being included in the conversations, and supported by the organisation. That’s why I feel more comfortable and now I’m out at my workplace too.

Saurabh: Coming from the LGBT community is not at all a taboo here. I see a lot of inclusive talks or the conversations happening at the workplace. Which makes me feel more... more myself coming to the workplace.

Saurabh: It has made a big difference to me outside of work. Because when I’m at work I’m putting all my energy, being myself. I don’t have to think of my sexual orientation. Instead, I am putting all my energy towards my ambition, and that preserves my energy, where I can put all my energy to other parts of my life.

Saurabh: I feel more productive, more joyous, more comfortable and more balanced, after all. And this particular effort has really paid off. I have recently been named as Top 100 Outstanding Future Role Model by INvolve. This is a great workplace. And I’m very proud to be part of the NatWest Group, India.
